The
northern part of the subcontinent, especially the Ladakh region, is blessed
with an abundance of sunlight and high solar radiation. Harnessing solar energy
into consumable electricity is highly effective and useful.
Solar Photovoltaic:
Potential in the region
|
As
per a survey conducted by this agency we have estimated a solar potentials of
11,000 MW in Kargil along the road side/approachable areas
|
Installed Capacity
|
KREDA
has so far installed more than 2000 kWp of photovoltaic alone excluding the
Homelighting system

Details
|
Under Ladakh Renewable Energy Initiative,
a scheme sanctioned by MNRE GOI to minimize dependence on diesel in the
Ladakh region and meet power requirement through local renewable sources,
KREDA has been establishing number of SPV Power Plants capacity ranging from 25 kWp to 100 kWp in various villages
and Army establishments, small Photo Voltaic Power Plants in various
institutions capacity ranging from 2.5
kWp to 10 kWp. SPPs have been installed in nearly Twenty two villages, most of which are remotely located,
and some Army establishments
and nearly 64 institutions.

Future Plan
|
1.Under
Roof-Top Scheme (Off-Grid), 400 nos. of Rooftop Photovoltaic Systems have
been sanctioned and each would be of capacity 05kWp. The systems shall be
installed in govt. institutions.
2.The
prefeasibility report for 20 Meghawat Capacity solar projects is ready with
KREDA. 05 Meghawat Solar Project shall be sanctioned soon. Survey and land
procurement has been completed. DPR shall be prepared by SECI soon.
3.It
is expected that the 2nd Phase of Ladakh Renewable Energy
Initiative (LREI) shall soon be sanctioned to KREDA. Under which various
hydro and solar projects shall be installed in various parts of the district.
4.Solar
Home Lighting Systems of unknown nos. shall also be going to sanction in the
coming months, proposal already submitted last year.
5.Solar
Water Pump project and Solar Refrigerator Project shall also be intiated
soon, which are parts of the LREI Project of the MNRE, GOI.
